Online Resources for Teaching and Learning with Technology

This web page contains links to a variety of online resources that may be of interest to school-based leaders and teachers in K-12 schools who wish support the integration of technology into the curriculum. Because the web is a dynamic, ever-changing environment we must stress that this list is just an example of where teacher/leaders might begin and should not be viewed as THE online resource source. Apple Computer's homepage connects educators to classroom activities, product information, and helpful links for Apple and Macintosh users.

AskERIC

The Education Resources Information Center (ERIC) page that includes information on areas such as science/social studies education, assessment and evaluation, reading, English and communications.  Users may get lesson plans in all subject areas or search for journal articles using keywords.  Print materials for the Learning Channel and the Discovery Channel are also available.

The Co-nect Schools site is dedicated to helping communities use technology for comprehensive school change.  The site has a fantastic "Top Ten" list for web sites in each curriculum area.

This site is an amazing resource that focuses on the global study of wildlife migration.

Kathy Schrock has compiled an excellent directory of sites for enriching curriculum.  The site also contains activities and lesson plans for teaching students to use the Internet, not to mention a rubric for evaluating web sites.

PBS Online

The Public Broadcasting Service's site includes information about "What's New" on PBS, National Programming, learning services and a catalog of PBS products.

Scholastic

This site is divided into four parts: in school, at home, around the world and for kids.  The "In School" section offers current events and many ready-to-use reproducibles.

SCORE (Schools of California Online Resources for Education)

This site is an online curriculum guide with links and resources for Math, Science, Social Studies, and Language Arts aligned with California's standards frameworks.

TeachNet
http://www.teachnet.org
TeachNet includes a wide array of ideas and projects ready for you to use with your students right away.  Included are teacher designed projects and activities organized by subject K-1 2. It has a "Today's Special" activity for the classroom.

ThinkQuest

An annual contest that challenges students ages 12-19 to use the Internet as a collaborative interactive teaching and learning tool.  The site includes teacher resources as well as web resources on how to cite and reference work.

TrackStar

TrackStar is an online interface that helps instructors organize and annotate online resources and file them in the Trackstar database.
