Online Resources for Teaching and Learning with TechnologyThis web page contains links to a variety of online resources that may be of interest to school-based leaders and teachers in K-12 schools who wish support the integration of technology into the curriculum. Because the web is a dynamic, ever-changing environment we must stress that this list is just an example of where teacher/leaders might begin and should not be viewed as THE online resource source. We have clustered the resources in the following categories:Apple Education http://www.apple.com/education Apple Computer's homepage connects educators to classroom activities, product information, and helpful links for Apple and Macintosh users. AskERIC http://ericir.syr.edu/ The Education Resources Information Center (ERIC) page that includes information on areas such as science/social studies education, assessment and evaluation, reading, English and communications. Users may get lesson plans in all subject areas or search for journal articles using keywords. Print materials for the Learning Channel and the Discovery Channel are also available. Classroom Connect http://www.classroom.net Classroom Connect is a dynamic Internet site that provides many 'connections' to the classroom. Check out the searchable G.R.A.D.E.S. Internet links. Co-Nect Schools http://www.co-nect.com The Co-nect Schools site is dedicated to helping communities use technology for comprehensive school change. The site has a fantastic "Top Ten" list for web sites in each curriculum area. Federal Resources For Educational Excellence FREE http://www.ed.gov/free This site offers quick access to learning and teaching resources from the federal government. Filamentality http://www.filamentality.com/wired/fil/ This site offers quick access to creation of hotlists and webquests. From Now On http://www.fno.org/index.html The Educational Technology Journal From Now On is published by Jamie McKenzie. He includes numerous strategies that offer practical, effective activities to help shift the focus of classrooms life away from teacher orchestrated mastery and memory of information to student centered processing of information to create understanding and improve problem-solving. The Global Schoolhouse http://www.globalschoolhouse.com/ This site is for the well-connected educator. It contains articles and features on educational technology. Also, teachers are welcome to submit their favorite web sites. Houghton Mifflin's Education Place http://www.eduplace.com/ Lesson and curriculum ideas. Intel in Education http://www.intel.com/education This is an education service from Intel, which provides information about Intel's educational programs, including curriculum and resources for science, math and technology. The Internet Schoolhouse http://www.internetschoolhouse.com A user-friendly directory of educational sites for K-12 teachers. The graphics on the home page make this site easily accessible. Journey North http://www.learner.org/jnorth/ This site is an amazing resource that focuses on the global study of wildlife migration. Kathy Schrock's Guide For Educators http://school.discovery.com/schrockguide/ Kathy Schrock has compiled an excellent directory of sites for enriching curriculum. The site also contains activities and lesson plans for teaching students to use the Internet, not to mention a rubric for evaluating web sites. Knowledge Network Explorer http://www.kn.pacbell.com Many great links and classroom resources as well as professional development resources. Microsoft K-12 Education http://www.microsoft.com/education/Schools.aspx This site offers classroom resources with lesson plans, activities and guides to integrating technology into your classroom. There also is an Educational Search accessible by typing the words "lesson plans." Monarch Watch http://www.MonarchWatch.org/ This site allows students to follow the migration of monarch butterflies. PBS Online http://www.pbs.org The Public Broadcasting Service's site includes information about "What's New" on PBS, National Programming, learning services and a catalog of PBS products. Scholastic http://www.scholastic.com/ This site is divided into four parts: in school, at home, around the world and for kids. The "In School" section offers current events and many ready-to-use reproducibles. SCORE (Schools of California Online Resources for Education) http://www.score.k12.ca.us/ This site is an online curriculum guide with links and resources for Math, Science, Social Studies, and Language Arts aligned with California's standards frameworks. TeachNet http://www.teachnet.org TeachNet includes a wide array of ideas and projects ready for you to use with your students right away. Included are teacher designed projects and activities organized by subject K-1 2. It has a "Today's Special" activity for the classroom. ThinkQuest http://www.thinkquest.org An annual contest that challenges students ages 12-19 to use the Internet as a collaborative interactive teaching and learning tool. The site includes teacher resources as well as web resources on how to cite and reference work.
